The Independent Investigations Bureau (BEI) is investigating the collision resulting in a serious injury following a police pursuit overnight from Thursday to Friday, in Laval.
The accident began around 12:10 a.m. when two patrol officers from the Service de police de Laval (SPL) attempted to intercept a vehicle that had violated the Highway Safety Code in the Chomedey sector. The driver at fault allegedly refused to stop and a pursuit was initiated.
During the pursuit, the car allegedly traveled at high speed on Boulevard Saint-Martin Ouest, heading east. Six BEI investigators have been tasked with investigating the circumstances of the event. In accordance with the Regulation respecting the conduct of investigations of the Independent Investigations Bureau, the parallel investigation was entrusted to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), which will also act as a support police service.
