A Quebecer among Soccer Canada's players of the month

Quebecer Évelyne Viens was named player of the month for October by Canada Soccer on Tuesday, along with Stephen Eustaquio.

Viens was the top Canadian player in both October international matches in Europe. She helped Canada triumph in two international matches during this period.

“In the 2-0 win over Argentina, Viens was used as a substitute and forced a goal against his Argentina side thanks to his offensive efforts. She also started in Canada's 4-0 win over Morocco, picking up a goal and an assist on Jessie Fleming's first goal of the game.

At her club Kristianstads DFF, she scored two more goals in four Damallsvenskan games, Sweden's top women's division,” Canada Soccer summed up in a statement.

“[Stephen Eustaquio and Évelyne Viens] are set to play for Canada in November as both national teams continue their preparations for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar [beginning November 23] and the Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Zealand, in 2023”, added the federation.

The Quebecer and her teammates will face Brazil in two international friendly matches, on November 11 and November 15.

Meanwhile, Stephen Eustaquio became the second Canadian midfielder to start every group stage game for his club in a UEFA Champions League season, after Atiba Hutchinson. He helped FC Porto win three consecutive games in the Champions League group stage. He scored his first career UEFA Champions League goal in a 4-0 win over Club Brugge KVt.
