Woman escapes attempted murder in Saint-Hyacinthe


A woman in her forties suffered serious injuries after an attempted murder on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, in Saint-Hyacinthe, Montérégie.

It was the children who reportedly alerted the police around 1 a.m. The bleeding victim was in an apartment on Avenue Saint-Dominique, near Rue Brébeuf.

The victim was stabbed to the head and abdomen by a man in the fifties. She was taken to hospital, where she is in critical condition.

The relationship between the victim and her attacker has not been established by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), which It has also not been confirmed whether any children were present during the attack.

Major Crimes Investigators have been dispatched to the scene to try to determine the circumstances of the attack with a weapon, according to the door- word of the SQ, Catherine Bernard.
