Strudel is one of the most popular desserts all over the world. The sweet-stuffed dish began to be prepared in the Austrian Empire in the 18th century, after which the recipe for this cake became popular all over the world and is still valid.
Traditional apple strudel can be seasoned with cottage cheese. To prepare this dough, you will need several ingredients:
whole grain flour (140 g)
warm water (100 ml)
vegetable oil (1 tablespoon)
egg (1 piece)
vanilla (a little bit)
sweet apples (200 g)
cottage cheese (100 g)
cinnamon to taste
Pour oil and water into a bowl, add the egg and half of the flour, mix thoroughly. Pour the remaining flour onto the countertop, make a hole in it and pour the mass into it. Knead the dough until it becomes elastic and not sticky to your hands. Usually it takes about 10 minutes.
Put the finished dough into a bowl, brush with a little oil, cover with a towel and let it rest for a half hour.
Roll the apples into a bowl. small cubes, mix with cinnamon and cottage cheese. If necessary, add dried fruit such as raisins and chopped nuts to the bowl.
Sprinkle the dough with flour and roll out the dough as thin as possible. Spread the stuffing on it and roll it up. Lubricate each end of the shaft with oil. To make the skin a golden roll, you can brush it with beaten egg.
Exclude the baking tray with baking paper, brush with oil and sprinkle with semolina. Open the strudel with the seam side down and bake at 180 degrees for about 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.
The finished strudel can be sprinkled with honey or powdered sugar.
