DAY

Let's go for the collection of food materials in the new bins and bags that will be distributed by the City of Quebec… but only in Haute-Saint-Charles to start.

The mayor, Bruno Marchand, and the vice-president of the executive committee, Marie-Josée Asselin, have officially launched the collection of waste that will end up at the new biomethanation center.&nbsp ;

“To your bags and your bins, citizens!” launched Ms. Asselin, happy and proud to start this collection planned since 2012. Starting today, each door will receive a free bin and a roll of 48 purple bags, whether single-family or apartments in multi-unit buildings .
<script async=

In Haute-Saint-Charles, it starts now. Residents will therefore be able to sort their materials. Only one question to ask: can it be eaten or is it part of something that can be eaten? If the answer is yes, the residue goes into the bin and the purple bag. The latter then ends up directly in the large waste bin and will be sorted once returned to the factory.

Thus, meat, fruit and vegetable residues, bones, eggshells, marc of coffee, for example, will take the path of the small bin. This material was designed and manufactured in Quebec. The City will distribute, still free of charge, a roll of bags to each door every six months.

After Haute-Saint-Charles, the other boroughs will follow: Charlesbourg in December, Sainte-Foy–Sillery –Cap-Rouge in January, Des Rivières and L'Ancienne-Lorette in February, Beauport and Saint-Augustin in March and La Cité–Limoilou in April.

More details to come …
