NEW DELHI | Former US President Donald Trump has once again hinted that he could run for the White House in 2024, assuring that it “would make a lot of people happy”, in an interview with an Indian TV channel whose broadcast is scheduled for Thursday.
“Everyone wants me to show up. I'm leading in the polls,” Trump said, according to an excerpt from the interview India's NDTV is due to air in full later Thursday.
“In all the polls, in the Republican polls and in the Democratic polls,” the Republican pointed out.
“I will make a decision in the very near future, I guess. And I think a lot of people will be very happy about that,” he continued.
The 76-year-old billionaire, former reality TV star, again expressed during this interview his rejection of the results of the 2020 election, lost against current Democratic President Joe Biden, arguing that it was rigged. /p>
“There is enormous evidence, there is enormous evidence,” he hammered.
The FBI conducted a spectacular search last month at the residence of Mr. Trump in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, suspecting him of illegally keeping confidential documents from his term in the White House (2017-2021).
Saturday, during a campaign meeting in Pennsylvania, Donald Trump denounced this “shameful raid” which he called a “travesty of justice”.
He is also the target of investigations into his efforts to reverse the results of the 2020 presidential election and his role in his supporters' violent assault on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Mr. Trump is not currently being prosecuted in any case.
