Joyce Echaquan $2.7M civil lawsuit filed against the hospital of Joliette

The family of Joyce Echaquan, an Atikamekw woman who died at the Joliette hospital two years ago, is suing the Lanaudière hospital center for $2.7 million.  

Specifically, the Lanaudière Integrated Health and Social Services Center (CISSS) and Dr. Jasmine Thanh are being sued for $2,155,000. 

< p>The CISSS de Lanaudière is also being sued for $500,000 in punitive damages and nurse Paule Rocray, for $20,000.

The civil suit will be filed today at the courthouse in Joliette by their lawyer Me Patrick Martin-Ménard.

The death of Joyce Echaquan, on September 28, 2020, had caused a real shock wave after the publication of a video where she was dying on her bed. hospital by being insulted by the nursing staff of the Lanaudière Regional Hospital Center, in Joliette.
