Motorists had the scare of their lives when concrete blocks that were thrown from an overpass landed straight into their windshields overnight from Wednesday to Thursday. The police are trying to identify suspects in this case.

The incident took place on the Félix-Leclerc highway, near the exit for boulevard des Chutes , shortly before 3:30 am.

If it was first believed that pieces of the avenue viaduct Royale were unhooked, the investigation finally showed that people deliberately threw these concrete blocks.

“Witnesses told us they saw suspects. And we discovered that the concrete blocks came from a fragmented sidewalk on the overpass,” explains Marie-Pier Rivard, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Québec (SPVQ).

At least two moving vehicles were targeted by these criminals and had their windshields shattered. One of the drivers also had to be evaluated after the projectile fell on him while going through the window of his truck.

Thirty minutes later, reports were made of two young individuals who were loitering on private land in the same sector, at the intersection of rue d'Ariel and rue des Virelais.

Arrested for trespassing at night, they are suspected of have a connection with the incident of the concrete blocks under the viaduct of the avenue Royale.
