Essential services will be offered as of Saturday despite the threat of a strike by the union of employees of the Isle-aux-Coudres crossing.  

The United Steelworkers Local 9599 has announced plans to initiate an indefinite walkout beginning Saturday at 6 a.m. 

The services provided for in the agreement between the union and the employer “are sufficient so that the health or safety of the population is not endangered”, ruled the Administrative Labor Tribunal. 

According to this agreement, services will be maintained for the Isle-aux-Coudres – Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive ferry from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. (Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.), from 3 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

The union agrees to make emergency trips between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. end. 

During the night, a regular team will be available on call to carry out emergency crossings to Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive, we added. < /p>

In the event of an exceptional and urgent situation involving the health or safety of the population, the union undertakes to provide the necessary personnel if the employer requests it.
