French President Emmanuel Macron plans to visit Canada “in the coming months”, he said during a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Germany. 

“I hope to be able, as planned, to be able to come to Canada in the coming months,” he said.

The French president spoke of an “excellent bilateral relationship”, with the “same philosophy” of the two leaders, particularly on the conflict in Ukraine.

“Our two countries have an extremely similar agenda , the bilateral relationship is strong,” he said, citing in particular “the topics of health and artificial intelligence.”

Justin Trudeau was pleased to be able to continue working with his counterpart, who was reappointed on April 24, on all major issues, from Ukraine to climate change and “economic growth”.
