Make way for Vernon Adams Jr. with the Lions

Place at Vernon Adams son at the Lions

DAY

Quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. will get his first start in a Lions uniform this Saturday when the BC club visit the Stampeders in Calgary.

That's what head coach Rick Campbell announced on Monday.

The Lions acquired the 29-year-old center from the Montreal Alouettes on August 31, and this , in return for a first-round pick in 2023.

Last week, against the Sparrows, Antonio Pipkin got the start. Adams Jr. still took part in three offensive sequences. He completed one of three passes he attempted for 17 yards.

The Lions have been desperate for a solution since the excellent Nathan Rourke fell in action on the 19th August, in a matchup against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The Canadian quarterback was having a fantastic season and the British Columbia squad went 8-1 when he started the game.

Since Rourke suffered a serious foot injury, the Lions suffered two losses.

Adams Jr. has been playing in the Canadian Football League since the 2016 season. At the start of the season, he lost his starting position with the Alouettes in favor of veteran Trevor Harris.
