Atlanta Braves player Marcell Ozuna was arrested Friday morning for driving while intoxicated.
According to WSB- TV Atlanta, the Dominican was arrested and taken to Gwinnett County Jail around 4:40 a.m.
The outfielder and designated hitter is again under investigation by police, 15 months after being accused of strangling his wife. Major League Baseball suspended him 20 games for violating their domestic violence policy.
On May 29, 2021, days after the incident, his name was placed on the injured reserve for two dislocated fingers and had to miss the remainder of the campaign, including the playoffs, following which the Braves were crowned World Series champions.
Ozuna has since lost his starting job , having shown only a low batting average of .214 and production of 46 runs. The 31-year-old is the former recipient of two Silver Sticks.
In February 2021, he signed a four-year contract, worth a total of $65 million.
