Mobilization: consternation in Russia after the suicide of a rapper

UPDATE DAY

A very popular Russian rapper, Ivan Vitalyevich Petunin, took his own life after being drafted into the Russian army to fight in Ukraine.

In a final video, he explains that he was “not ready to kill” in Ukraine and that taking his own life was, for him, “a way of expressing his displeasure”.

“I have chosen to be a man who does not support what is currently happening. I'm not ready to kill for any reason. If you're watching this video, I'm dead,” he said, sounding very chilling.

The Sun >reports that the man had previously served in the Russian army, but that this time he had done everything not to be called up.

The body of the 27-year-old young man was found on Friday near his apartment in Krasnodar, moments after recording his cry from the heart.

In the past few days, tens of thousands of Russians have fled their country not to be conscripted into the armed forces.
