Montréal: BEI investigating altercation with police officers< /p> UPDATE DAY

The Bureau of Independent Investigations (BEI) announced on Sunday the launch of an investigation into the circumstances of an intervention that took place on Sunday morning, involving the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).  

Around 5:10 a.m. Sunday morning, SPVM police officers reportedly intervened at the scene of an altercation on de Maisonneuve Boulevard West, in Montreal.

The police forcefully arrested a 25-year-old man who tried to resist. During the altercation between the suspect and the police, the man reportedly fell and lost consciousness.

The man was transported to a hospital center where he is in stable condition.

Five BEI investigators were tasked with investigating the circumstances of this event.

In accordance with the Regulations on the conduct of BEI investigations, the parallel investigation was entrusted to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
