Canada Day weekend was a busy one for Ottawa police who arrested several people for impaired driving.
Aware Over the long weekend, 19 drivers were caught while impaired, three of whom were under the influence of drugs, the Ottawa Police Service said in a news release Monday.
< p>“In addition to the obvious danger that driving poses to the community, these drivers put a strain on emergency services, while police, firefighters and paramedics are diverted from other interventions,” said Wayne Stangle, Sgt. Acting West Division Patrol Staff.
Authorities also reported that three of the 19 people charged were involved in collisions.
The West Division Police Department 'Ottawa reminds citizens that they can contact 911 if they suspect someone is driving with impaired faculties.
