One fire too many in Longueuil

One fire too many in Longueuil

DAY

The neighbors of an abandoned building that was the scene of a new arson on Wednesday, in Longueuil, are worried and exasperated by the inaction of the authorities to secure the place.

“Until there are complaints loud enough, nothing will be done,” exclaimed Richard Meyer, whose residence is adjacent to the burned building in the borough of Vieux-Longueuil.

Tuesday, shortly before 11 p.m., flames broke out in the building on rue Marmier. It was enough to revive from its ashes the discontent of the residents concerning the file of this building left abandoned for nearly five years.

Mr. Léveillé is tired of seeing people hovering around his house. On several occasions, he saw people in the building messing it up. A second fire broke out in the same area on Wednesday. An investigation is underway to establish if the two incidents are linked.
