Now you can order the test for antibodies to the coronavirus online even without a doctor’s prescription, says Money Talks News.
Want to know if you moved coronavirus infection in the early years? Currently, two companies offer testing for antibodies — everything you need to buy directly on their sites.
And even if your provider ordered for you test for antibodies to the coronavirus, you can still pass the test if you meet certain requirements.
Two diagnostic company, Quest Diagnostics and LabCorp to cooperate with the independent network of physicians PWNHealth to make testing possible.
If you order a test for antibodies to the website of any of the companies, but you do not have an order for testing from a doctor, an independent doctor of PWNHealth will order it on your behalf.
Antibody test shows whether you have active coronavirus infection. It tests your blood for certain antibodies, called immunoglobulin G or IgG.
According to Quest Diagnostics:
“The human body produces IgG antibodies as part of immune response to the virus. Typically, to generate sufficient amount of antibodies in the blood takes from 10 to 18 days.”
To pass the test for antibodies, you must meet certain criteria, such as absence within the past 10 days, new symptoms COVID-19 — a disease caused by a coronavirus.
Recent research, conducted from new York to California, show that millions of people could be infected with a coronavirus, not realizing it.
Most of these people the symptoms were absent or so weak that the infection has passed virtually unnoticed.
If you belong to this group of infected, you probably want to know about it. Although no one can say for certain, it is likely that infection with coronavirus in the past will give you a degree of immunity from re-infection.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and infectious diseases, has repeatedly talked about his belief that people previously infected with coronavirus are likely to have immunity, at least for a certain period:
“We have not formally proved it, but it is likely that this is so. If it acts like any other virus, after recovery you can’t catch it”.
According to the magazine Money, a new antibody tests are not always reliable.
Publishing contacted Quest and found out that there are two test frameworks: one from the specificity of 98.5% to 99%, the other with a specificity of 99.4%. (For example, specificity of 98.5% would mean a 1.5% chance of a false result).
Indeed, earlier studies have shown that from 14 antibody tests, only three were consistently accurate.
However, testing can give you some peace of mind.
Latest Federal laws and directives of the administration trump, as a rule, require that insurance companies, even private insurers covered medical services related to the coronavirus. This includes tests for antibodies, according to the Federal centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
However, before hastily pass one of these tests, talk with your insurance company. You may need to be tested in the approved facility.
Also note that the Quest and LabCorp charge a small fee in the amount of about $ 10 on behalf of PWNHealth. However, this fee does not apply if your provider ordered for you antibody test.
