“Alexander” (2004)

Like many actors, Colin Farrell started out on television and we saw the Irishman for the first time in “Ballykissangel” in 1998. The following year, he appeared in “The War Zone”. His American career took off with “American Outlaws” in 2001. In 2002, he appeared in the credits of “Minority Report” by Steven Spielberg and then “The Cabin” by Joel Schumacher, who rehired him for “Veronica Guerin “, with Cate Blanchett, released in 2003. He makes a foray into action films with his roles in “S.W.A.T. elite unit” and “Daredevil”, with Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, which is a box office success. As it is time for him to wear a feature film, Oliver Stone entrusts him with the main role of the film “Alexander” (2004) – for the record, know that it is rumored that he would have had a romantic relationship with Angelina Jolie. Unfortunately, the film was a resounding flop and lost around US$70 million. On the other hand, “Two Cops in Miami” by Michael Mann released in 2006, in which he played James Crockett, paid off and has since become cult.

“In Bruges” (2008)< /strong>

After his detour to Woody Allen, Colin Farrell obtains one of the two main roles of “In Bruges”, the first feature film by Martin McDonagh. This independent production hit the mark and his performance earned him the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical. We then see him in a series of independent productions, including “Ondine” or the exceptional “Crazy Heart”. In addition, in 2009, director Terry Gilliam gave him part of the role of Heath Ledger when the latter died in “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus”.

“Vampire, you have says vampire?” (2011)

Colin Farrell turns into a murderous neighbor in this comedy horror. A few months apart, he is also “Bad Bosses” with Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston. Then, in the new 2012 version of the classic “Total Recall”, he reprized the role of Douglas Quaid previously held by Arnold Swartzenegger.

“Saving Mr. Banks” (2013)

The Disney studios offered him the opportunity to make an appearance in a family drama as the father of the author of “Mary Poppins” and he would work again with the mouse studios, this time with Tim Burton, in “ Dumbo” in 2019. In 2016, he was also part of the film series “Fantastic Beasts”, which did not prevent him from filming, almost at the same time, under the leadership of independent filmmaker Yórgos Lánthimos for “The Lobster”, which won the jury prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015. The actor was also nominated for the Golden Globes, while “The Killing of the Sacred Deer” won the screenplay prize on the Croisette two years later.

'The Batman' (2022)

With Matt Reeves' 'The Batman' starring Robert Pattinson in the title role, Colin Farrell finally explores the universe of Gotham's batman in more detail since he embodies the Penguin, who has become here a mafioso of the worst kind. Rendered unrecognizable by the makeup, he detailed the process. “It took six or eight hours and about 12 people worked on it. While everyone was [doing my makeup], I felt overwhelmed, like I think anyone would have been in my place.”
