Resumption of major events: Quebec City is the destination of té par excellence, according to Marchand

With 38 major events, some 200 cultural activities this summer and investments of $11 million from the City, Quebec will be the perfect place to have a good time, claims Bruno Marchand.

“We can finally say that we will have a summer that looks like us and an almost certain return to normal,” enthused the mayor of Quebec City on Wednesday.

Cultural activities

The elected official presented the cultural activities that will animate the city this summer, after two summer seasons weighed down by the pandemic.

“Quebec will be the destination to be in Quebec, in Canada and even in North America. We have nothing to envy to European destinations,” he said.

Among the activities in which citizens and tourists can take part are the Festival d'été de Québec, the Grands Feux, the unusual passages, ComédiHa!, the Fête nationale, the Fêtes de la Nouvelle-France, Récréation de Flip Fabrique and the Grand Prix Cycliste.

Ephemeral spaces

Added to this are 42 temporary spaces. This is slightly less than last year, when the City increased their number due to the impossibility of holding events, but it is twice as many as in 2019.

< p>The mayor was also delighted that a host of activities were to be held in all neighborhoods, a promise he had made during the election campaign. For example, for the first time in its history, the city will host a stage of the Para-cycling World Cup, from August 4 to 7, in the borough of Charlesbourg.

All of this programming involves an investment of over $11 million from the Municipality.
