Jimmy Garoppolo and Tom Brady reunion: not so fast

The agent of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has denied rumors sending his client to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Last week, the 'Sports Illustrated' magazine had mentioned the 'Bucs' interest in the 30-year-old; such a scenario would reunite Garoppolo with his ex-mentor with the New England Patriots, veteran Tom Brady, who will play the next campaign in Tampa as the number 1 quarterback.

However, according to Don Yee, the representative of the Niners' color carrier, we should not expect such an outcome, even if the departure of the principal concerned to other skies could be confirmed in the weeks to come.

“Over the weekend, a report came out of a hint that I spoke with a media outlet about his future. This is untrue,” the agent told the NFL Network.

In addition, Yee had good news to report on the physical condition of “Jimmy G,” who missed a mini-camp from the club in June because of his right shoulder for which he had surgery.

“His progress is going well and according to the deadlines set. We are optimistic about the next season,” said the agent.

Last season, Garoppolo completed 68.3% of the passes he attempted for 3,810 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also made 12 interceptions. He risks being traded if general manager John Lynch finds the ideal compromise in his eyes. San Francisco is expected to assign Trey Lance, third overall pick in the 2021 draft, to lead the offense this year.
