Rogers outage: Minister Champagne to meet Rogers CEO

UPGRADE DAY

Federal Industry Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne has asked to meet with management of Rogers Communications and other telecom companies following Friday's major outage.

“The Minister insisted that the situation was unacceptable and told it directly to the CEO of Rogers”, can we read in particular in the official press release from the Minister's office.

The major blackout that has crippled part of Canada should never have happened, says the minister, who expects “our telecommunications industry to meet the highest standards, which Canadians rightly deserve” .

A meeting would thus be scheduled for Monday between Mr. Champagne, the presidents of Rogers and other major telecommunications companies, to discuss improving the reliability of the networks.
