Rouyn-Noranda: two suspects arrested with false immigration documents

Two individuals responsible for traffic violations were arrested with false immigration documents in Rouyn-Noranda, overnight from Sunday to Monday. 

The two suspects were in a vehicle traveling dangerously on a construction site located on Route 117, near Route 395.

It was the construction workers who succeeded to intercept the vehicle while waiting for the arrival of the police, said Sergeant Nancy Fournier of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The two men, aged 19 and 23, were arrested by the police before to be released by promise to appear. 

The police officers who wanted to identify the driver and his passenger noted the presence in the vehicle of false documents in connection with the two suspects.

“Charges related to the possession of false documents could be filed against them,” said the SQ.

The provincial police cial reports that the Canada Border Services Agency has been notified of the immigration status of the two suspects.
