UPDATE DAY

Many political parties in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region have already announced their candidates for the provincial elections next October, and it is already possible to see an interest young people for politics.

New faces will therefore appear for this next electoral race.

“They can quietly leave to a new generation who cares to improve living conditions,” said Émile Simard, Parti Québécois candidate for Dubuc.

Émile Simard is in his first election campaign at just 20 years old. He has been a fan of politics for several years now.

“To be a member of a party you must be 16 years old, on my membership card it is my birthday. I started campaigning for the Parti Québécois in 2019. Then with the Student Association at the Cégep de Chicoutimi,” confirmed the candidate.

Andrée-Anne Brillant is also a young 30-year-old candidate and wears the colors of Québec solidaire in Dubuc. She was a candidate in the municipal elections in Saguenay.

“It's really since the bachelor's degree in social work that I have noticed that things were not working to help people more. I also got to know Québec solidaire better,” confirmed Ms. Brillant.

Their objective is to give young people a voice in the National Assembly.

“I think it there are not enough young people in politics, we need them, it is our future”, affirmed Émile Simard.

“People want to encourage us, we are happy that you are here” , explained Ms. Brillant.

Remember that the provincial elections will take place on October 3.
