She trades her ballet slippers for an AK-47

A professional Ukrainian dancer trades her ballet shoes for an AK-47 rifle to defend her country against the Russians.
The 30-year-old ballerina Olesia Vorotnyk has been a professional dancer since 2009 according to British media The Economist.
She is part of the ballet troupe Ukraine, similar to that of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal.

Her husband lost his life three years ago in the conflict that followed the conquest of Crimea in 2014 by the Russians.
She swore to herself that if a war started, she would take up arms to defend her country.
After initially being turned down, she has now joined the Homeland Defense Force.
“As a ballerina, I was not at the top of the list,” mentions- she.
