The stampede that killed around 150 people on Saturday night during a Halloween party in Seoul is “a tragedy and a disaster that should not have happened”, the South Korean president said on Sunday Yoon Suk-yeol.
“In the center of Seoul has occurred a tragedy and a disaster that should not have happened,” Mr. Yoon said in a televised address to the nation. The government “will rigorously investigate the cause” of the tragedy “to ensure that such an accident does not happen again in the future,” he promised.
