Swiss football clubs have ignored a government permit to resume training

The majority of Swiss football clubs are left in quarantine, despite government authorization to resume training with the beginning of the week. Out of 20 teams the two main divisions of studies have begun to just “St. Gallen” and “grasshopper”, according to Reuters.

Some clubs such as champion and silver medalist of the last season of “young boys” and “Basel” accordingly, and “Lugano” are going to come out of quarantine since may 18. “Zurich” is planning to wait until the end of the month.

Clubs are in no hurry to resume training, because there is uncertainty on the date of the restart of the national championship.

The Swiss Parliament decided that the matches of the championship can resume after 8 June. However, the Swiss football League is asking the government for financial assistance to the affected clubs, calling it a key condition for the resumption of the championship. The decision about the fate of the season will be at the meeting on may 29.
