According to the “Super Express” portal, the issue of income in priests is a topic that is to some extent a mystery. The pensions received by clergymen are much less mysterious. Retirement benefits for clergy are paid both from the Social Insurance Institution and from the Church Fund. How much is the retirement pension for priests?
Retirement for priests, not only ZUS
Priests receive remuneration for their activity, as is the case with clergymen working as catechists. Postponed contributions mean that the clergy can receive a pension from ZUS, just like any citizen who is employed full-time.
The amount of such benefit depends on two factors: the amount of earnings and pension contributions paid to the state insurer. If these contributions are paid in a minimal amount, then the clergyman cannot count on a particularly high benefit. The pension from ZUS will be paid after the priest turns 65.
Retirement benefits for priests, however, are paid not only from the Social Insurance Institution, but also from the Church Fund. However, in order to benefit from this money, the clergyman must be 75 years of age.
What kind of pension can priests count on?
The fact that priests receive benefits from ZUS and the Church Fund means that their benefits are higher than in the case of many Poles The lowest pensions are for those priests who were curates. Parish priests can receive a monthly pension of up to 5,000. zloty.
The pensions received by bishops are much higher. In their case, it is an amount of around PLN 10,000. zloty.
