Blue Jackets cut two Quebecers in QMJHL

UPGRADE DAY

Quebecers James Malatesta and Jordan Dumais were released by the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday, so they will join their respective teams in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).

Malatesta, fifth-round pick of the National Hockey League (NHL) draft in 2021, will thus find Patrick Roy and the Quebec Remparts. He will play his fourth season with the club after totaling 28 goals and 53 points in 68 games in 2021-2022.

Dumais, for his part, accumulated 39 goals and 109 points in 68 games, while recording just six penalty minutes with the Halifax Mooseheads. He was selected in the third round this year.

The Jackets reduced their roster to 57 skaters.
