The British community in Quebec today reacted to the death of Queen Elizabeth II, with many speaking of a change of era.

“I just turned 48, and she was the queen when I was born. It's been the same queen all my life, and so have many other people. It's the only one we know of. It's a little shocking, but we must not forget that she was 96 years old, ”says Andrew Greenfield, resident of Quebec, originally from Grimsby in England.

“The royal family, little it doesn't matter if you like them or not, they're rock stars,” he adds, mentioning that it's a sad day for his home country.

Others are wondering what will happen with the new King Charles and his sons.

“It's been a long time since she was in square. His death is not a shock, but it is the end of an era. Now what remains to be seen is what comes next,” said London-born Simon Jacobs. like the chef and owner of Phil's Fish and Chips restaurant in Quebec City.

“I started to receive lots of messages from my family, who are in England. We started discussing everything she did. I even had the chance in 2003 to cook for her”, mentions Phil Hammond.
