Québec solidaire (QS) deplores the “monumental” failure of the CAQ government in terms of health, which led to the closure of more than 450 hospital beds this summer.

Some 453 beds will be closed in 26 hospitals between the end of June and the beginning of September to allow employees of the health network to take vacation, in a context of labor shortage.

“The CAQ was unable to bring caregivers back into the network and today we are witnessing the serious consequences of this failure,” said in a press release on Wednesday. , QS spokesperson for health, Vincent Marissal.

“It is the workers and the patients who are going to pay the price and that is unacceptable. Minister Dubé presented a multitude of plans to save the network, but plans never cured anyone,” denounced the MP for Rosemont.

The left-wing party recalls having presented in November the RESPECT plan, the objective of which was to attract and retain caregivers in the public health network and to eliminate compulsory overtime (TSO).

“As long as we do not eliminate for good overtime and inhuman schedules, our health system will continue to weaken more and more every day, ”added Mélissa Généreux, solidarity candidate for the riding of Saint-François.
