A lot of people cannot imagine their day without a Cup of hot coffee.
More than a year of debate about whether it is useful or not. However, doctors claim: the positive effects of coffee on bowel unconditionally.
Regular consumption of coffee is associated with a healthier composition of the gut microbiome, leading to reduced risk of several diseases.
In the new study, which was conducted by specialists of the Medical College of Baylor, was attended by 34 people who passed the screening colonoscopy. Only 97 were taken biopsies of the mucous membrane of the colon from its different segments.
The prevalence of different bacteria were compared in people with high and low levels of consumption of caffeine. Information about their diet, the volunteers pointed out with the help of a questionnaire. It turned out that the diversity of the microbiome at the level of types of bacteria depending on caffeine consumption was not very different, but the number of certain bacteria varied quite strongly.
So, coffee drinkers were more anti-inflammatory bacteria, such as Faecalibacterium and Roseburia, but harmful Erysipelatoclostridium was less.
As scholars have noted, the composition and structure of the intestinal microbiota play an important role in reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and liver disease.
