Eagles bet on Tomas Lavoie


Unsurprisingly, the Cape Breton Eagles have set their sights on defenseman Tomas Lavoie, of the Esther-Blondin College Phénix, with the very first pick of the Major Junior Hockey League amateur draft. Quebec City, Monday.

On his own season in the U18 AAA Hockey Development League, the 16-year-old blacked the score sheet 21 times in 36 games. He added six points in as many playoff games.

The Victoriaville Tigres then opted for 15-year-old goaltender Gabriel D'Aigle, from the Saint-Hyacinthe Gauls. In 24 games in 2021-22, he posted a 15-9 record, a 2.59 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage.

The Saguenéens completed the top 3rd in the 2022 edition of the QMJHL Draft by acquiring forward Maxim Massé from the Collège Notre-Dame Albatros. The latter had quite the 2021-2022 season, with a harvest of 43 points in 40 games.
