Recognizing Dan Vladar's good work in the shadow of Jacob Markstrom, the Calgary Flames offered the No. 2 goaltender a two-year contract extension on Thursday. &nbsp ;

The Czech, who earns the minimum wage of $750,000 this year, could have become a restricted free agent at the end of the campaign. He will get his hands on an annual average of $2.2 million in 2023-2024 and 2024-2025.

Vladar was acquired from the Boston Bruins in July 2021. In his first season in Alberta , the 25-year-old posted a 13-6-2 record, a 2.75 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage.

In his only start in the this campaign on Saturday, he stopped 26 shots in the Flames' 4-3 victory over arch-rival Edmonton Oilers.
