The Girl Code


The 2022 LCDF (Le Code des Filles) Evening, presented on May 19 at Capitale Hélicopt by Desjardins, in collaboration with CGI, Micro Logic and Mirego/Premier Tech, Alithya and Mon avenir, brought together 75 high school students from the Quebec who were able to meet seasoned IT and digital professionals. In the form of a “speed meeting”, the inspiring women had the opportunity to share their fascinating journeys as well as answer questions from young people in order to inform them about the technology job market and the opportunities offered. The Girls Code (LCDF) is an organization created and run by girls aged 12 to 18 that aims to encourage young people, especially girls, to take an interest in the digital industry to consider a career in it.

Le Cap-Rouge 

Branch 265 of the Royal Canadian Legion (ROC) in Quebec City recently invited certain corps of Sea, Army and Air Cadets to meet on its premises in order to present them with a check for $500 for the thank you for their participation in the poppy campaigns. These sums will be used to support and train the cadets. In addition, the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps 287 (MRC) “Le Cap-Rouge” received the trophy for having distinguished itself during the poppy campaign by the money raised and the number of participating cadets. Among the participants, we note: Bruno Dumas, 1st VP LRC; Nicolas Cantin, Lieutenant (RCN), and Yvon Ouellette, 2nd VP LRC. On the back row; Gaétan Guillemette, Deputy Director of Poppy: Mathieu Durant, Cadet Commander; Dominic Richard, representative of the Quebec Division of the Navy League of Canada, and Carol Mazurat, Youth Director of the Air Cadet League of Canada (Quebec).

Youth ACTS 

The first Annual Gathering of ACTES Youth Committees took place on May 28 and 29 at Camp Portneuf in Saint-Raymond in the Capitale-Nationale region. This event, organized by the Monique-Fitz-Back Foundation in collaboration with the Mouvement ACTES of the Centrale des unions du Québec, brought together nearly 35 high school students from four administrative regions and five schools in Quebec. The goal ? Highlight and recognize the social and environmental commitment of young participants. Motivating conferences, outdoor games, practical training, and collaborative activities: everything was there to create links within the ACTES Youth Committees.
