In Ukraine actively carry imported fruit, particularly tangerines and bananas. In this country for 2019 has updated the historical record of import of bananas. This is evidenced by preliminary estimates of the Ukrainian fruit and vegetable Association (UPOA), reports East-fruit.
So, experts estimate the import of bananas to Ukraine for 12 months in 2019 270-275 thousand tons, which is 8-9% more than the previous record set in 2018.
“Is that a record volume of imports of bananas in Ukraine is celebrated on the backdrop of the growing production of Ukrainian fruits and berries and reduce the number of consumers after a loss of control over Crimea and several districts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. Even in 2013 and 2014, the import of bananas was less than in 2019. And it says even more dramatic increase in the consumption of these exotic fruits in calculation on one inhabitant of Ukraine”, —said the Director for development of UPOA Katerina Zvereva.
According to estimates of OPOA in 2019 every citizen of Ukraine for the first time, consumed an average of more than 6 kg of bananas per year. Thus per capita consumption of bananas increased by 20-22% compared to 2013.
