The Jays are already on the brink

The Major League Baseball playoffs are only one game old, but already the Blue Jays have no room for error, they who lost their first game 4 to 0 against the Seattle Mariners, Friday in Toronto.

The crowd favorites did not seem ready at the start of the game, already trailing 3-0 after one inning .

The pitcher Alek Manoah was also the victim of this hasty collapse. He first hit the very first batter of the game, Julio Rodriguez, before the latter completed his turn of the trails following a double from Eugenio Suarez. Cal Raleigh wrapped it all up for the visitors with a two-run homer.

Manoah (0-1) finally gave up after five and two-thirds innings. He gave the opponents four points on as many strikes from a safe place and a free pass.

Offensively, the Jays came up against a Luis Castillo (1-0) in full possession of his means. The Mariners starter muzzled five opposing batters in seven-and-a-third innings on the mound. He gave up no runs despite allowing six hits.

If they want to extend their 2022 season by at least one more game, Canada's only major league team won't will have no choice but to win the second duel of a best-of-three series on Saturday, still at Rogers Centre.
