  • 14 November 1948: birth at Buckingham Palace of His Royal Highness Prince Charles Philip Arthur George of Edinburgh, second in line to the British throne
  • February 6, 1952: death of his grandfather, King George VI. His mother becomes Queen Elizabeth II. At age 3, he became the direct heir to the throne.
  • April 1962: entered Gordonstoun boarding school in Scotland
  • July 1, 1969 : crowned Prince of Wales by his mother in a televised ceremony at Caernarfon Castle
  • 1970: Graduated from Cambridge University
