The Marten, perched on the Haute-Gaspésie

La Marten, perched on Haute-Gaspésie

Who has not traveled the Gaspé Peninsula and seen the very photogenic red lighthouse of La Martre? In fact, this original lighthouse was erected in the late 1800s to guide navigators due to the heavy shipping traffic in the area. However, the facilities as we know them today were built in the early 1900s. Octagonal in shape with a wood frame, the “new” construction has nevertheless retained the original clockwork system consisting of cables and weights. Located in one of the most beautiful stretches of road in Quebec, this area deserves a stop. Moreover, planning it at sunset or sunrise is even better! Note that it is preferable to book your accommodation. Traveling on Route 132 in the rain towards Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, the weather forecast application indicated a clearing during the night. So I decide to stay put and sleep in my SUV. The comfort is rather basic, but effective! I fall asleep with the excitement of admiring the sunrise. This stretch of the “132” is particularly steep and I imagine the perspective that the drone will be able to reveal to me. The characteristics of these places are unique and amazing…
