Ukraine will be able to prolong life of nuclear power plants with their own forces more than 60 years.

It is defined by the programme of cooperation between NNEGC “Energoatom” and the Institute for nuclear research (INR) of national Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the field of radiation materials science for the next five years. The corresponding Protocol on development of cooperation between OP “Scientific-technical center GP NAEK “Energoatom” and the INR of NAS of Ukraine on 2019-2024 was signed on 14 June with the participation of the Company President Yuriy Nedashkovskiy.

One of the key themes for the deepening of cooperation between NNEGC “Energoatom” and nuclear research Institute of NAS of Ukraine, which is the leading research organization in the field of nuclear physics and radiation material science in Ukraine, was the carrying out of works related to the study of materials of VVER-1000 and VVER-440 and analysis of radiation embrittlement of reactor vessel materials.

Because on the basis of the results of such works was, in particular, justifies the extension of the resource buildings of power units No. 2,3,4 ZNPP. And also successfully completed testing of specimens for power units No. 2,6 ZNPP, №1,4 RAES and No. 2 and 3 of SUNPP. A generalized control program changes the properties of the metal of reactor pressure vessels of NPP on samples-witnesses for the company superdesign operation will allow prescribe in detail the approaches and to develop measures necessary to ensure continuous material support of the operation of all reactor vessels for the period superdesign operation for over 60 years.

In fact, this document will be the first in which each case will be reviewed the implementation status of the specimen programs, followed by synthesis of the results of the analysis and develop a common strategy for dealing with the samples-witnesses and reliable justification of the resource all buildings. On the basis of the analysis will be documented shows which of the buildings krupchitsy slower and for which you want to apply more modern teaching approaches or mitigation measures of a technical nature to ensure their safe operation for a period of not less than 60 years.

The next stage of cooperation will be the creation and commissioning of material science channel in the research reactor WWR-M Is a unique project which is badly needed by the Company to perform two important tasks: implementation of the program of irradiation of samples of materials of the supporting elements of the reactor VVER-1000, conduct of in-pile testing of direct charge detectors (DMH) and calorimetric gamma detectors (SRC), made OP “KB “Atompribor”, leaving a part of NAEK “Energoatom”.

Further in-core channel will be required for validation of neutron-physical codes when calculating the energy deposition in the materials of the internals of the VVER-1000 reactors and certification of direct charge detectors. It is also planned the expansion of the laboratory complex, where you already placed a considerable amount of modern equipment OP NTTS (in particular, four new manipulator with high payload capacity for remote operation in a “hot” camera) that will allow you to create on the basis of the INR of NASU material science centralized laboratory for the study of how irradiated materials and samples in the initial state. To date, the cooperation framework the specialists of INR of NAS of Ukraine carry out the program of modernization of container assemblies with samples of witnesses.

Thus, during the 2016-2018 programme of modernization of the row of container assemblies for power units №3 of SUNPP and №2.4 Zaporizhzhya, as well as the implementation of modernisation programmes for units 2,4 ZNPP. Implementation of the program for unit 1 of SUNPP continues.

In addition, from 2015 the works on the monitoring of radiation load on the reactor vessel for all NPPs of Ukraine. According to the current normative documents the monitoring of radiation load on the COP is carried out continuously. All these works are performed within the established scheduling deadlines, and reporting documentation passes public examination. For NNEGC “Energoatom” deepening cooperation and development of radiation materials on the basis of “hot” chambers INR NASU is one of the priorities for the continued operation of NPP power units.
