Walmart to build $100 million resort in Vaudreuil-Dorion


Giant Walmart will build its first $100 million Quebec fulfillment center in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Le Journal has learned .

“Walmart Canada has not requested or received any form of government funding to date in connection with its new fulfillment center in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec,” said its spokesperson Steeve Azoulay.

This new center “equipped with high-tech sorting capabilities” located in the heart of Montérégie will have an area of ​​approximately 44,456 m2. 

More than 225 jobs created

More than 225 jobs will be created, in addition to the workers needed for its construction.

The multinational plans to use this new center as a rotation for its customers here and in the Atlantic provinces. It is scheduled to open in 2024. It will be able to ship more than 20 million items per year.

Investments of $1 billion

With this new strategic building, Walmart hopes to be able to offer better product availability and improve the customer experience in-store and online by providing them with faster service.

This year, Walmart plans to renovate 17 stores in Quebec. Across Canada, investments will reach $1 billion.

In Quebec, Walmart has 71 stores and employs 14,500 workers. In one year, the company purchased $3.2 billion worth of products from 500 Quebec suppliers.
