World famous choreographer charged with sexual assault

A world-renowned ballet choreographer was arrested by Laval police for sexual assaults committed between 2015 and 2017.

Eddy Toussaint, 77, who has been working in the field of dance for 50 years and who even owned a ballet school in Laval, allegedly assaulted a young man in his twenties.

Toussaint allegedly took the victim under his wing, who aspired to become a professional dancer. “Over time, the suspect allegedly pressured the victim to have sex with him. He also allegedly used the same ploy on other victims,” Laval police said in a statement.

Eddy Toussaint was met by investigators following his arrest, before being released on conditions.

He appeared last July at the Laval courthouse on a charge of sexual assault.

He is due to return to court in November for the continuation legal proceedings.

The investigators in the file have good reason to believe that the accused may have caused more victims. People who could have been assaulted by Eddy Toussaint are invited to contact the Laval police via their info line, at 662-INFO (4636).
